Fleet Manager covers organising and controlling a company's vehicle fleet, including procurement, leasing, maintenance, registration, compliance, driver management and operational efficiency. The fleet will often consist of road vehicles, but the occupation can extend to aircraft or ships where the same whole-of-fleet management responsibility is demonstrated.
The role is different from Transport Company Manager, Supply and Distribution Manager and Logistics Manager. Scheduling freight or supervising transport operations alone is not enough if the applicant does not control the acquisition, maintenance, use and compliance of the fleet itself.
